Launched by Vanita Cyril in early 2012, the original mission of The Strategic Mama was to guide mom bloggers into becoming mom business owners, but the universe had other plans for TSM and Vanita.
TSM instead became the mom blogger’s go-to blog for all things SEO.
See TSM’s most commented posts and you’ll find Vanita’s approach to SEO is not the same stuffy, crazy-technical material found across the web. Check out the Bounce Rate Defined series, How to Increase Blog Traffic and Is Sharing On G+ Hurting Your Traffic.
As for Vanita…
After an early morning of meditation and some weird stretching she calls “yoga”, Vanita spends her day shuttling kids in, around, and through her New York apartment while helping women build their online empires. Most evenings, she’s burning dinner in hopes that her hubby will show mercy on their four kids and cook an edible meal.
Vanita brought her slightly Rain-Man-esque marketing experience and freaky SEO know-how to the blogging world when she left the corporate grind 5 years ago. Since then, she’s been helping women improve their blogs with her no-bullshit consulting style. Her Google Luv Course and mad design skills, has brought clients calling and Google Search traffic skyrocketing.
After a brief hiatus from TSM, she has now come full circle where the Strategic Mama’s new mission is to empower female entrepreneurs with the knowledge and training they need to successfully profit online.
But, there’s no way a mission of such magnitude can be taken on by one woman. Ok, maybe it can be done, but two heads are better and far more fun than one.
Meet Vidya Sury…
Writer. Editor. Blogger. Social Media Enthusiast. Happy Mom.
(Better at writing in first-person than Vanita is.)
It was a sunny day in 2003 when my son started school as a First Grader. When he returned home after his first day of school, he asked me, “Mi, What do you do?”
I answered, “I am your Mom”
He said, “No, I meant, your job, where you earn money”
I smiled at his serious little face and responded, “I am a writer, editor and blogger”
He nodded solemnly and asked, “So what do you do?”
Truly, out of the mouths of babes, eh? Some of my extended family still asks me this question!
I have a love affair with words. After a successful corporate career in advertising, marketing and training of almost two decades, I am living my dream making a living as a Writer, Editor and Blogger today, working from home.
I do what I love and love what I do, which, as my Mom would say, is the best way to do one’s best.
Vidya and I, though oceans apart, know one another as well as any two sisters could. We know each other’s weaknesses and strengths and this has blossomed into the perfect partnership on many business projects. But most importantly, we share very similar views:
- Family comes first.
- Happiness is a close second, but can feel like it’s in first place due to family.
- Life needs to be lived.
- Every woman should have the opportunity to build her empire while nurturing her family.
- We’d rather teach you to fish than feed you for a day.
Vidya and I are honored that you’ve made it to the very end of this page. Is it possible we share similar views? Are you ready to do what you love and love what you do?
If so… we look forward to teaching you to fish.
